Dubai: Court of Blockchain
Dubai situated in the United Arab Emirates has launched the “world’s first disruptive court” to oversee all civil and commercial disputes.
The Dubai International Financial Center (DIFC) Courts has announced its plan in partnership with the Smart Dubai initiative to fundamentally change the judicial process. This will allow a blockchain-powered future that will bring greater efficiencies across the entire legal system.
The two bodies will form a taskforce to develop the network built on blockchain technology and smart contracts to explore verification of court judgements and sharing of documents.
The Smart Dubai Office is currently in the process of a transformative initiative known as Dubai Blockchain strategy on decentralised technology including: E-governance, payments system, entire land registry and passport-less travel.
Such is the emphasis on digitization through blockchain that SDO director-general Dr. Aisha Bin Bishr confirmed the government’s initiative “to run 100% of applicable government transactions on Blockchain by 2020.”
